about
Based in Vancouver, Canada, I create beadwork on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. I continue to learn about the past, present, and future of stewardship in the areas now called Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Delta, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Surrey, UBC Endowment Lands, YVR Airport and Coquitlam.
I often describe myself as a multi-disciplinary artist who regularlly looks to beads to tell imperfect ceremonies of dreaming, thinking, questioning, understanding, and learning. Now, in my own practice, I draw from traditional techniques and technology to create story-based beadwork to wear or display. To me, beading is a process of meaning-making, visiting, laughing, and sharing. My most recent substantial work included a beaded portrait of my great-grandmother made up of 87,000 beads.
As a facilitator, I encourage playful and tender creating among new and experienced beaders. I often teach beginner techniques such as pebble, single-needle flat, and edging in various projects.
